THE POWER OF PRAYER 1

Luke 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was teaching his disciples said unto him, Lord,[teach] us to [pray], as John also taught his disciples.

THE DISCIPLES SAW THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER

They did not ask Jesus to teach them to preach. Preaching is a very important part of any church but many believe it is the most important part. Many churches are faltering today, not because there is not good preaching, but because there is a lack of prayer on the part of the membership.

They did not ask Jesus to teach them to teach. Every church should have a strong teaching ministry based on the Bible. The truth is that if there isn't any prayer on the part of the students and the teachers there is very little gained from studying the Bible. The Bible is revealed by the Holy Spirit and we can't be taught by Him without first praying and allowing God to take control of our understanding.

They did not ask Jesus to teach them to perform miracles. They had seen Him do many wonderful works and perform all manner of miracles but that is not what they sought.

They asked Jesus to teach them to pray. If you would really serve God to the greatest of your ability you will learn to pray. If you are not really sure how to pray then that is a good place to begin. Just bow your head and ask God to teach you to pray. It will change your life and the lives of those around you.
