PERSONAL REVIVAL 5

Psalm 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies A LIVING SACRIFICE, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

When we truly experience personal revival we will be willing to offer our own bodies as a living sacrifice to God.  Cleansed by the blood of Jesus and made acceptable and Holy to Him.  It is then that we can be used.

What service is reasonable to offer to the One who created us?  Is it reasonable to think that attending Sunday School, a couple of hours of worship and maybe a prayer meeting a week?  He gave His Son to die for our sins.  Is it reasonable to think that we can acknowledge Him on Sunday and a few moments a day and then go our own way the rest of the week.

The joy of our salvation and true personal revival should move us to a higher plane and a closer relationship with God.  It should cause us to center our lives around Him instead of just including Him in aspects of our life.

Yes, true personal revival will cause us to have to change some things.  It will cause us to change the way we think, the way we act and even the way we feel but it will be a change for the better.

PERSONAL REVIVAL 4

Psalm 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

This verse is sometimes hard for us to accept as being in our best interest.  Who wants their spirit broken?  Who wants a broken heart?  I have to admit it is not something most of us really desire, I know I don't.

I do know that there have been times that my spirit has been broken because I was trying to direct my own paths and God had to break my spirit to get my attention.  When I have gone to God with a broken spirit He has always healed me, and given me new direction.

With the availability of the media we have today, we are exposed to all manner of violence, brutality and atrocities and if we are not careful we can become callous and we can harden our hearts to the needs of others.  Be very careful.  God can allow the hearts of His children to be broken so that they can be mended and used in His service.

Sometimes true personal revival will not come until our spirits are broken and our hearts are broken.  Are you broken hearted over lost souls?  Are you broken hearted over those who are suffering in one way or another?  Turn these over to God and offer them as a sacrifice to Him.

PERSONAL REVIVAL 3

Psalm 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Psalm 51:15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall show forth thy praise.

Have you ever noticed that some people seem to be always complaining about everything.  Sadly this can be true even among Christians.  A negative Christian  is in need of revival.  When we have the joy of salvation dominating our life we are not focused on the problems of our family, the church, or even the world on a constant basis. We realize that being negative is not a life filled with faith.

Faith and joy focus on the Goodness of God and on His ability to handle the circumstances that surround us.  We might not always be able to praise the people around us.  We might find a little trouble in finding anything praiseworthy about the circumstances we find our self in.  When we find that we are in a situation like this it is time for us to concentrate on God.  He is always worthy of our praise and our worship.

True revival will fill us with praise.

PERSONAL REVIVAL 2

Psalm 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Psalm 51:13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

When we truly have a personal revival in our lives we will have a strong desire to witness to the lost.  We know that what we have is special and we know that it makes a great difference in our lives.  I personally believe that God gives us a burden to tell others about the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

The closer we walk with God, the better we get to know Him.  The better we know Him, the more we want to talk about Him.  I love to fellowship with other Christians praising God and talking about the wonderful things He has done in my life but I believe when we are truly revived we will feel an urgency to share this same message with people who don't know Him.

True personal revival will cause us to want to share the great message of salvation found in the Bible.

PERSONAL REVIVAL 1

Psalm 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

I can remember how it was when I first got saved. There was great joy in my heart.  I no longer feared God's wrath and His punishment but knew that I was saved by His wonderful grace.  It was a feeling of freedom, it was an overwhelming feeling of being forgiven.

During my younger years I strayed terribly away from God and the plan He had for my life.  Life was pretty miserable then.  Some time after I was married I began to go to church and hear the gospel and to get closer to God again.  It was then that I experienced a revival in my life that really helps me to understand this verse.  That revival restored that joy in that close relationship with God.

I would love to be able to say that I have never strayed since that time but I can't.  I will say that I never strayed that far and I by God's grace I have never sunk that low again.  I think there are times that we all need to cry out to God for that personal revival that restores to us the joy of salvation.

SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS 5

Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Jesus was aware of the spiritual blindness of man even as He died for us to pay our sin debt.  We need to realize that we have all sinned.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

This includes everyone.  There are no exceptions.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

We deserve death.  Thank God we don't have to get justice but we can receive mercy through His grace.

Our eyes need to be opened to the fact that salvation is necessary but He has provided it for us as a gift.  We must believe.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, THOU SHALT BE SAVED.

Any other path except through Jesus Christ leads to destruction.  Satan has spiritually blinded many people to that fact.

SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS 4

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: (4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Spiritual blindness is a great tactic of Satan. He doesn't want the world to awaken to the reality that God is Supreme and Sovereign.  He wants people to feel that they can bargain with Him, or even ignore Him.

God wants a relationship with us, his creation.  We were created for His pleasure and Satan is working overtime to keep people from realizing that.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a glorious gospel that will light up our lives and give sight to the spiritually blind.  We who have accepted Christ have an obligation to share that gospel with a blinded world.

Jesus is the light.  We must let Him shine through us to give others sight.

SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS 3

Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, (19) To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Jesus came to bring us this message.  There is good news to the poor...the poor in spirit can be made rich through Jesus Christ.

The brokenhearted can be healed and there are so many today suffering from broken hearts.  The sadness and the hurts and disappointments are sometimes overwhelming but when we invite Jesus into our Hearts and the Holy Spirit comes in, He will Heal us if we give Him the pieces.
In this great land were we are so proud of our freedom it is sad to see people who are captives to the sin that abounds.  It is not just the drunkenness, the immorality, the drugs, the lusts, and greed that holds people captive.  Unforgiveness, pride and a number of other things can keep us prisoner but Jesus came to give us true freedom.

I have been writing about spiritual blindness this week and Jesus is the only one who can truly give us sight and help us see the light.

Gain your liberty.  Accept Jesus as your LORD and Savior today.

SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS 2

Matthew 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Have you ever found yourself in a terrible situation and find yourself asking, "How did I get here in the first place?"

With all the saturation of the political ads this year I have really been taking a long look at the shape this great nation of ours has gotten into. I have asked myself, "How in the world did we let it get this bad?"

The answer is not all that hard.  We have elected leaders who follow their own agenda, who are people pleasers and sometimes we elect men who are just not good people.  I am not talking about on the local level (if we are not careful that can happen too).  I am talking on the national level.  We have a government filled with compromise, corruption and basically the desire to keep getting re-elected.  Who is to blame?  We are.

We have come to depend on the government for so many things we should depend on God for.  We have become "entitled" and feel that we deserve certain things.  Believe me, we don't want to get what we deserve.  I don't think we can stand it.

We need to quit following the leadership of spiritually blind leaders and we need to get on our knees and cry out to God.

SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS 1

Matthew 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

There are many scriptures to describe the mindset of many people in this age and this is certainly one of them.  Just as it was in the old testament days people are trying to create God in their image.  By this I mean that instead of them conforming to God's image and will they try to twist the scriptures and what they believe and try to make God conform to their image and will.

As we watch people all over the world rioting and committing atrocities in the name of their religion because they feel someone has insulted them there are many who feel we should try to be sensitive to their feelings.  Wrong is wrong.  It doesn't matter how strongly you believe something, if you are wrong you are still wrong.  Elijah challenged the false prophets and they were definitely sincere.  They were so sincere that many of them sacrificed themselves on the altar to get their false idols attention.  Does this sound familiar.  Sincerity does not make something right.

We must study the Word of God, the Bible and instead of trying to get it to conform and agree with us, we should be conforming and agreeing with it.

THE COST OF REVIVAL 5

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

HE WILL:
HEAR FROM HEAVEN
FORGIVE OUR SIN
HEAL OUR LAND
We sometimes act as if God is reluctant to send Revival to our land and to our Churches. That is not the case at all, but revival is conditional.

Revival is not based on a series of meetings and who the evangelist that brings the message is. Revival is dependent upon the hearts of men getting right with Him.

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

As the psalmist David prayed, we should too. We need to ask God to reveal our sins to us and then we need to ask Him to clean them up. When we have that renewed right spirit within us we will see revival in God's people.

The only hope for our nation is for God's people to get revived. Are you ready for revival?

THE COST OF REVIVAL 4

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

TURN FROM OUR WICKED WAYS

Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

If ever there was a time that people were calling evil good and good evil it is today.  People are desiring to live sinful lifestyles and then become angry at those who do not embrace their sin.
Please don't misunderstand me.  We are to always have compassion on the lost and even on the wicked, knowing that they need Jesus Christ, but we are not to embrace and encourage their sin.
We must do some self examination in our own lives before we start looking at the sin in other people lives.  It is time for us to try to get the things out of our own lives that might keep us from walking daily in the Spirit.

Even the sins we consider small should be confessed and repented of.  They might look small to us but they are still sin.  God loves you and He wants you to have a special relationship with Him.  Remove anything from your life that might hinder that relationship.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

PRAY AND SEEK HIS FACE

If revival is to come to our Nation it will come in on the wings of prayer.  When people begin to get serious about prayer, not just the prayers for the sick and for our needs to be met, but prayer that leads us to a closer walk with Jesus.

We seek His hand but we fail to seek His face.  When we have a burning desire to know God it will lead to changed lives.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently SEEK HIM.

We will be rewarded with a relationship filled with trust and faith.  With trust and faith we will be more bold and active in spreading the message of salvation.  Only a turning to Jesus Christ will really bring revival to our Nation.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

HUMILITY

If we are to have a true healing in our land we will have to have some Humility.  That means we will need to quit trying to justify our actions. That means we have to realize that we have been blessed and we are the recipients of God's grace.

Our salvation is not deserved.  It is a gift from God and it is time for us to be thankful for it.
We can show our thanksgiving by humbling our self and confessing our sins and then repenting of them.

None of us would dream of letting someone come into our homes and start throwing garbage all over the floor and furniture and making a mess of it.  Why then do we allow all sorts of trash to come into our homes and minds by way of television and other media.  It is time for us to do some admitting that some of the things we expose ourselves to is just plain sin.

It is time for us to humble ourselves, confess our sins, and repent of some of the things we have allowed to come into our lives.

THE COST OF REVIVAL

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

MY PEOPLE

If our country was ever in need of revival it is now.  The morals of the country are probably at the lowest level in the history of the United States.  If we are to have a turn around in our country it will not come out of Washington.  It will not come as a ruling from the Supreme Court. It will come from the hearts of God's people.

Who are His people.  We are the ones who are called by His name.  We are those who have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior and who have taken the name of Christians.  In this age of political correctness it might not be popular for a group to single themselves out as God's people but it is a responsibility that we have.  We must stand up and confess it, we must proclaim it and we must live like it.

It is time for us to quit being ashamed of the Bible and stop making excuses for it.  It is time for us to step up and realize that the Bible is God's Word and we must incorporate it into our lives if we are to ever have healing in our Nation.

LABORS OF LOVE 4

Acts 17:28 For in him we LIVE, AND MOVE, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Not only will we be judged for our works, we will be judged by what motivated us to do those works.
If we work to receive the rewards we are missing the whole point.

I have been married to my wife for over 41 years. It has been my goal to care for her, to please her and to make her happy.  My wife has appreciated this devotion to her and in return has returned this affection. She raised my children, is a great housekeeper, cook, and my clothes magically appear clean and hanging in my closet.  She doesn't do these things because she is afraid I will run off or because she is afraid I will throw her out.  We both do these things because we have a mutual love and respect of each other.  What we do for each other is motivated out of Love.

The works we do for Jesus too ought to be motivated out of Love.  His love for us is like no other love and our love for Him should be returned in kind.  Because of this love for Him we should be motivated to do the work that He has asked us to do.

Jesus loved you enough to suffer for your sins and to pay your sin debt.  It is our love for Him in return that should motivate us to tell others about Him and what He did for us.

LABORS OF LOVE 3

John 9:4 I must WORK THE WORKS of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Even Jesus stated that the time to do God's work was limited.

Our time to do the work or works that God has for us to do is limited.  In our busy world today it seems that we have so much going on that we barely have time to squeeze in a couple of hours a week to attend Church and Sunday school, much less get more involved in serving the Lord.
It is important to remember what we were created for in the first place:

Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, CREATED in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Our very purpose for being is to do the good works that God created us for.  Serving God is not an extracurricular activity that we get extra credit for.  It is our very purpose for being created in the first place.  If we are to truly do the good works we are supposed to do we must give God the priority in our life.

LABORS OF LOVE 2

1Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.(12) Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; (13) Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. (14) If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. (15) If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

While reaching souls for Jesus is a great work, it is not the only work.  In Jesus great commission He also commanded us to make disciples of those that were saved.

Mt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

As Christians we have gotten away from this command in favor of mass evangelism.  Many church members are satisfied to let the pastors and evangelists do all the soul winning and teaching.
This is not the command that Jesus gave us.  Each of us individually have our own work to do in reaching souls.

Even if we don't feel a responsibility to do that work for the Lord today, we will realize that responsibility when we stand before Jesus and He judges our works.

LABORS OF LOVE 1

1Corinthians 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.(12) Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; (13) Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. (14) If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. (15) If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

One day those who are saved will stand before Jesus Christ and our works will be tried.  This Judgement is only for the saved and it will be at this Judgement that we receive the rewards that we are to present to Jesus.

It would certainly be embarrassing to stand before Jesus and have nothing to offer to the One who paid for our salvation with His own suffering.  If we receive no rewards it will not be because there was not work to do.  Since Jesus established the church there has always been plenty to do even if we just carry out His command to:

Mathew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

The work of soul winning is a great work and with it comes special rewards.  Are you telling the lost about the saving grace of Jesus Christ?
