Matthew 24:42-44 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. (43) But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. (44) Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
INTRODUCTION:
It is certain that we can not know when Jesus will return for us but that doesn't mean we should not be watching. The analagy of the theif is a very good one. They seldom make appointments.
A couple once recieved two tickets to a football game that had been sold out. The tickets were very hard to get and they were thrilled to recieve them. They were good tickets, right on the 50 yard line. There was no card or return address, just the tickets wrapped in plain paper with no note or writing.
The couple went to the football game but were hardly able to enjoy it because they kept looking around for someone they might know who could have possibly sent them the tickets. They were in the midst of total strangers and still had no idea where the tickets came from.
When they reached home their house was completely cleaned out by thieves. A piece of paper was laying in the floor with the words HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE GAME! written on it. They had their answer.
A thief will get your attention on something else and then he will steal from you. Satan is a thief who is trying to rob you of your joy.
Keep your focus. Be ready. Watch for His return.
