John 21:18-19 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not. (19) This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
THE CALL STILL COMES LOUDLY FROM CHRIST FOLLOW ME:
WE MUST FOLLOW JESUS INTO THE FIELD OF SERVICE
Jesus looked on the multitudes and had compassion. If ever compassion was needed by the multitudes it is today. It is easy for us to shudder and shrug off those we see who are lost but that is not following Jesus.
Jesus saw the need and came from Glory to fill it by giving His life for us. We should also see the need and be willing to give of ourselves to witness to those who are lost.
We know it is not God's will that any should perish so it is truly sad when someone does perish without knowing Christ as His Savior. It is even sadder when we have the opportunity to point them to Christ and we fail to do so.
We are to labor in the fields. That means that witnessing and soul winning are not meant to be easy. It is work and we must be willing to put forth the effort it takes to spread the gospel to those who are lost. Let's follow Jesus into the field of service.
