Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed willing, but the flesh weak.
POMPEII'S SENTINEL
When Pompeii was destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius there were many persons buried in the ruins who were found in many different positions.
. The one that was found which is most impressive was the Roman Sentinel found standing at the city gate ,still in his position with his hands clasped to his weapon.
While the earth shook beneath him there, while the floods of ashes and the cinders and lava covered him he stood at his post; and there after a thousand years he was found.
Christians should stand by their duty and post and watch lest they fall into temptation.
We are too often panicked and then we are blindsided by circumstances that keep us from achieving our spiritual victories. We must watch, the destroyer is coming. We must watch, temptation does not announce it's arrival but sneaks up on us when we are least expecting it. We must watch because our enemy never sleeps and he never rests.
We also much watch because Jesus is coming again and we should be watching and waiting as if we were expecting Him to come today, because He just may do it.
