The Withering World

1 Peter 1:24-25 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: (25) But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

As I get older, and I'm not complaining because I really would like to continue getting older, I realize how fragile this world and the things around me are.  It seems that nothing, and sadly no one, lasts as long as we would like them too.

I can look around and see the deterioration of things that sparkled and shined at one time and now some of the are cracked, tarnished, rusted or broken.  Nothing seems to last. Even the pleasure that we get from worldly things seems to fade with time.

Thoughts like these would be depressing if I wasn't assured by Jesus Christ of eternal life and better things to come.  The Word of the Lord Endureth forever.
