Be Still 1

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

I jokingly told someone last week that when I answer the phone it seems like I always get the same two questions.  The first is "Were you asleep?"  This was especially true when I was pastoring full time.  It was almost like everyone thought that I slept most of the time.  The other question I am asked is, "Are you busy?"  I thought about this a lot and I guess they have a 50 percent chance of being right.  Normally if I am not busy, I am asleep.  If I am not asleep I am usually busy."

Sometimes I will just sit and stare out the front door into the woods in front of our home, not really seeing or being aware of what is going on out there.  My wife will ask me if something is wrong or if I have something on my mind.  I just tell her "No, I was just studying."

Sometimes we just have to be still and meditate on the things God has already showed us in His Word.  We have to just be still, and know that He is God.  Try it.  You will be surprised how close to Him you can get when you are still.

Please feel free to contact me by email at

If you know of someone new to the Kosciusko area and would like for our church to visit them please let us know.  Our prayers are that this devotional ministry will be an outreach to bring people into a closer relationship with Jesus.  I do appreciate you taking the time to read these devotionals and please keep us in your prayers.
