TAKE HEED IN FOLLOWING GOD'S TEACHING
1 Tim 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
Many times in my ministry I have been witnessing to someone and they would start to tell me what some preacher or what some relative said. It seems that all they knew about the Word of God was what they had heard from someone else.
We are to study God's Word, the Bible, for ourselves. Bible teaching comes from the Bible and not just from what someone might have to say about the Bible. When we read a book about the Bible or listen to someone teaching the Bible we should have our own Bible with us so that we can check what it really says.
The best commentary on the Bible is the Bible itself. Be sure and pray, asking God to teach you as you study. Each scripture taken in context will always back up other scripture. You can only be careful about learning Bible truth from studying the Bible yourself.
