BEING CAREFUL

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with THANKSGIVING let your requests be made known unto God.

While Jesus was teaching He taught us to put all our cares upon Him and not worry about the things of this world.

I have been astounded all my life at the number of people who desire designer jeans and who would by a pair of athletic shoes that cost more than my first car.  Come to think of it I am amazed at the number of people who will spend way to much for an automobile because it is a status symbol.

I guess I am just a simple man who was raised in tougher times.  Times when we were thankful for the new pair of shoes because the old ones were coming apart, when we were glad to have any automobile that would crank and run, when a pot of dried beans was mighty good and if you had some fatback to flavor them with it was a feast.

Jesus described one of the signs of the last days as

Luke 21:26 Men's hearts FAILING THEM for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Maybe we should focus on our true and eternal home and not fret so much over the things that are going on in this world.

If you know of someone new to the Kosciusko area and would like for our church to visit them please let us know.  Our prayers are that this devotional ministry will be an outreach to bring people into a closer relationship with Jesus.  I do appreciate you taking the time to read these devotionals and please keep us in your prayers.
