THE WISE MAN

Jeremy Burkes
Matthew 7:24-25 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: (25) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Unlike the man that built his house on the sands of the world and his own works the wise man built his house on the Rock, Jesus Christ. How many of you would like to build a house in Jesus neighborhood, I know I would. We need to tear down the beach houses (the ones on worldly foundations). The house or the life with Jesus as foundation can withstand any storm, any fire, or any earthquake.
We as Christians live in fear a lot of the time. Sometimes we don't ask Jesus to help because we don't want him to know what a mess we have gotten ourselves into. Here is a little secret JESUS KNOWS EVERYTHING.
Edward Mote wrote the words to the song, "The Solid Rock". The opening line says "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness." When the storms of sin buffet us we need to go back to the cross. Jesus took our place and paid for our sins once and for all.
Let go of the beach house and upgrade to the rock house.
I heard a message once entitled, "Let Go and Let God." That is the way we must live our life. We should let go of sin, especially our pet sins, and let God handle them. We should let God plow over our sin garden an

  1. I have started reading Matthew in depth and hearing Jesus speak, you realize its a lot about letting go and just trusting HIM. The wordly ways sneak in too easily! I am starting to understand why its said "Its easier for a camel to get through the eye of the needle then for man to enter Heaven"
