(1 John 3:1) Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
I have known several people who have adopted children. They take a child that belonged to someone else and bring them into their family and treat them as one of their own. Their adopted child becomes a real part of their family with the same benefits as those who are born into the family.
Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
When we accept Jesus as our Savior we become God's adopted sons and therefore we are joint heirs with Jesus in all things the Father has for Him.
I really like the thought of being adopted by God.
