1 Samuel 15:23For [rebellion] the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from king.
When we examine this verse of scripture it has some pretty sobering implications. Rebellion is something we might think of as being pretty serious. We know how harmful it is when our children rebel against parental authority. We know how much trouble this usually leads to but we don't think too much about stubbornness.
I know people that seem to take pride in being stubborn. There is nothing wrong with having strong convictions and standing firm on that which is right but when we are stubborn for the sake of being stubborn and getting our way it becomes serious sin.
Many times God deals with us and instead of submitting to Him and His will we just harden our hearts as Pharaoh did and we become stubborn. I am reminded of a little girl who was told to sit on the little stool her mother made her sit on for punishment. She went to the stool and just stood there. Finally her mother told her that if she didn't sit down she would get a spanking. The little girl sat on the stool and looked up at her mother and said, "I may be sitting on the outside but I'm still standing on the inside."
We can be much like that with God. On the outside we are submissive but on the inside we are still resisting the will of God. Let's quit being stubborn and let God mold us into the instruments He can use for His Glory.

that's another one of those getting old things. As we grow we learn that we don't have to take a stand unless it is for the Glory of God. The small or medium stuff just aren't as important as we thought in our youth. If you have salvation, blessings from God and peace within our family and in our heart, the rest just doesn't matter.
