THERE IS WORK TO DO 1

Ac 1:9-11 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. (10 ) And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; (11) Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Jesus had just given them the great commission, their marching orders and then He ascended into Heaven.

They stood there gazing up to where He went and I am sure we would have been just as awestruck as they were. The stood in amazement. It was at this time the full impact of His message should have jarred them awake.

They gazed, I think probably in a daze and probably for some time at the sky long after Jesus was out of sight. It took the heavenly messengers speaking them to jar them into any kind of action again.

Today we too should be jarred into action by the impact of Jesus message because it is no less important some 2000 years later. Like the disciples we too often just stand gazing when we should be motivated to do the work that Jesus left us to do.

I want to talk about that work a little in the next few devotionals. I hope you receive a blessing and some inspiration from them.
