FEAR NOT 4

I Chronicles 28:20) And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

WE SHOULD KNOW THE PURPOSE OF OUR WORK

The purpose of the Temple was not so that God would have a house here on Earth. It's purpose was to reveal God to man. Each ritual, each sacrifice, each part of the temple was built to point people to the need of a Savior. That Savior was Jesus.

So many times we put major effort into activities, events, and programs without ever really asking ourselves if it serves the real purpose of the Church. We must have the right motive. If we do not have the right motive then our intentions are destined for failure.

Having the right motive does not always guarantee us the results that we seek. One of the earliest lessons I learned in my ministry was that It was my job to be obedient to God and do as I felt He was leading me. It was God's job to work on people's hearts and get the results.

Remember when you have the purpose of revealing God to the world that you are not responsible for how they react. Each person is himself responsible how he reacts to the Good News about Jesus Christ.

FEAR NOT 3

I Chronicles 28:20) And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

COURAGE COMES FROM TRUST

We all do things every day that require courage even though we might not realize it at the time. Courage comes from trust. You have the courage to get into a two ton automobile and drive down the highway at 55 mph or more because you trust the car to stay together, you trust the steering wheel to turn and you trust the brakes to stop you. You probably do it so often that you never even consider the dangers.

Many people are afraid of flying because they just can't trust the fact that something that big and that heavy should be able to fly. There are others, especially pilots, who love the experience and have no fear whatsoever of flying. It is all a matter of trust.

If we are serving the Lord then we should trust Him. If we put our trust in Him and not our own abilities then we will have the courage to accomplish anything He would have us to do.

FEAR NOT 2

I Chronicles 28:20) And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

YOU WILL FACE OPPOSITION

When you really set out to do something for God you can count on God's help and God's support but you can also count on some opposition. If we didn't have any opposition we wouldn't have fears about doing things.

Opposition can come from a lot of directions. The world certainly opposes any efforts of Christianity to combat sin. We expect opposition from without the walls of the church but sometimes it shocks us when we find opposition from within.

Be prepared to face opposition when you serve the Lord. It might even come from within your own family or from your closest friends. Just remember when you do face opposition, face it with a Christian attitude. We are supposed to love people even when they don't agree with what we are doing. If you are sure that God is with you in your work, you can be sure He will give you the grace to deal with opposition.

FEAR NOT 1

I Chronicles 28:20) And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

JUST DO IT

Everyone has seen the Nike shoe logo. Just do it. It seems that this didn't originate with Nike. This was the advice David gave to Solomon. I think it is very sound advice for anyone that God has called to a ministry. There are a lot of people with a lot of good intentions. They have plans, they select committees, they have meetings and they do everything besides "it".

If it is from God and it is for God, do it.
If it is the right thing to do, do it.
Even though you are scared, do it.
Even when others say you will fail, do it.

The people who get the job done are not the one's that say it can't be done. They are the ones that see that it must be done and do it.

I know you have probably seen the news reports of the devastation in Haiti this past week. Situations like that seem hopeless and sadly there are many who will die and many more with permanent injuries but there are many who will survive and many who will be okay because someone saw a need and decided to do something.

You can do something too. You can pray. You can care. You can give if you have the opportunity.

There are many things that need to be done. Not just the Earth shattering news events but in your own communities, churches and families. If you see something that needs to be done, just do it.

GOD'S SUPPLY AND OUR NEED 2

GOD IS THE SUPPLIER

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

If you look closely at the verse you will notice that Paul said "my God". He was specific and we know that Paul's God was the God of the Old and New Testaments. He did not say some god, a god, or any god, he said "my God".
We hear much in the world today about diversity and about acceptance of other's belief systems. While I believe that we are to love everyone and we are to treat even the heathen with respect and caring, I also believe it is very dangerous to embrace a lie or accept a dangerous set of beliefs.
We must stand firm in believing that there is one True and that the Bible is His word to us. If something is contrary to the Bible then it should be contrary to our way of thinking. If we are going to depend upon God to supply our needs we need to recognize that He is the only source of the supply that we need.
One of the things I need, and God is supplying it as much as I will allow, is compassion and a burden for the enemies of Christianity. If we are to defeat them it will be by winning them to Christ.
