THE GOOD SAMARITAN 5

THE WORK OF THE SAMARITAN IS THE WORK OF THE CHRISTIAN

Luke 10 33-35 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, (34) And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. (35) And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

The work of the Samaritan was a work of compassion. We can never fully do the work of a Christian if we don't have compassion for those who are wounded by sin and robbed by Satan.

It was a work of healing. Just like the Samaritan bound up the wounds of the man on the road, we sometimes must help bind up the wounds of those in sin. They need care, and they need help. We sometimes have to help them heal.

It was a work of Sacrifice. The good Samaritan spent gave his time, his energy, and his money to help a man he didn't even know. He did all this with no thought of ever being repaid. The true work of a Christian will be not be compensated in this world, but in the next.

It was a work of commitment. The Samaritan was committed to the man's ongoing care. He knew that sometimes things take time.

He was a great example to all of us.
