Mt 19:21-22 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. (22) But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
Most of you are familiar with the story of the rich young ruler. Because of his wealth he was unwilling to forsake it all and follow Jesus. The sad thing is that he would have been leaving no more behind than those who did follow Jesus. They left it all.
The fishermen left their boats. Even the apostle Paul left a very promising future as a pharisee to follow Jesus for the rest of his life. It doesn't matter if you have much or little, all is all. There are many who will not even forsake their little pleasures to follow Jesus.
No matter what you choose to put over Jesus, if you turn away from Him and follow something else you, just like the rich young ruler will go away sad.
