HE IS ABLE TO KEEP HIS PROMISES

Romans 4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
It is an honorable thing for a man to keep his word. It is especially important for him to keep his promises. I can remember many times when my children were growing up I could not make certain promises because I knew that I might not be able to keep those promises. What I could do was tell them I would try. If for some reason then I could not keep our plans I still needed a very good explanation of why not but at least I did not break a promise to them.
The children of Israel wandered in the wilderness for 40 years and the older generation died, (without entering the promised land) simply because they did not believe God could keep His promise. Joshua and Caleb entered in and received the promises because they trusted God to deliver.
Man may fail. He may not be able to deliver on his promises. That is not true with God. Whatever He has promised us in His Word, He is able to deliver.

EVERY DAY I WILL TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT THE LORD

Acts 5:42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

It is sometimes hard to witness to others. We sometimes don't know what to say. We find it is easier to talk to those who we know already love the Lord. Teaching others about Jesus is one thing that makes our days fruitful and really great.
There are many ways to reach others. I hope through the ministry of these devotionals not only to encourage believers but that somewhere down the line that they might reach the lost.
You can hand out tracts with the plan of salvation. You can invite others to visit your church and worship with you. If you wish you can send these devotionals to someone you think may need to hear the message.
Just a suggestion: I know many of you e-mail the devotionals to others but are they usually others who you know share your faith? Why not try to find someone each day to send a devotional to that you think might not share your faith. Try to share your message with an unbeliever. You do not have to be a preacher, teacher or writer. There are many good resources you can use to send a message to the lost or to those who are out of fellowship with God.
If you are able to touch someones heart and lead them to Jesus then you truly will have a really great day.

SURVIVING DISASTER 3

HAVE A SUPPLY OF SPIRITUAL FOOD
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the [bread of life]: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.

I have heard the saying all my life "You are what you eat." When we take food into our body it becomes a part of our body. If we eat healthy food we will usually have healthy bodies. If we don't (and believe me I know from experience) then we will ultimately pay the price with our health. I have been trying to lose weight and I haven't yet got down to what I didn't want to get up to.
The same is true with us spiritually. If we consume Jesus in our life we become more like Him. The way that we consume Him spiritually is by getting to know him intimately. Incorporate Him into our lives and strive to imitate him. We then become strong and will be sustained during a spiritual disaster. It is also sad when someone else comes to us seeking spiritual food and our spiritual cupboards are bare. We should have enough of Jesus in our own lives that we can share Him with others who have spiritual needs.
Do you have a supply of spiritual food on hand?

DRESS FOR BATTLE 4

ON YOUR FEET

Ephesians 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

If you notice as you read through the verses about the armor of God all of the armor is for the front parts of the body. There is nothing for protection of the back because we are supposed to be going forward, not running away. The most dangerous position a person engaged in spiritual warfare can be in is to be running away from the battle.
We must have our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel. We must study the Word. We must learn how to share the gospel with others and we must be prepared to go forward and find those who need to hear it.
There are many with a need to know Jesus Christ as their Lord. Many will hear and not accept but even less can accept without hearing. Let us be aggressive in battle by spreading the gospel.

DRESS FOR BATTLE 3

TRUTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS

Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

To stand in the day of battle we must have our strength in truth. We can not stand upon tradition or upon that which is popular and agrees with everyone else. The truth is plain. Jesus said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life."
The truth is that Jesus is the only one who can give us strength in spiritual warfare. If we clothe ourselves in His righteousness by accepting Him as our Lord and Savior then He will give us victory.
Clothed in our own righteousness we are doomed and bound for spiritual defeat.
The breastplate is to protect the heart. The greatest way to protect your heart is to invite Jesus into it.

DRESS FOR BATTLE 2

KNOW YOUR ENEMY
Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
The Bible tells us that there is a real devil, and there is a real hell where he will eventually spend eternity. It tells us much about him that we sometimes ignore.
People have painted a picture of the evil looking red creature with a tail and pitchfork. The Bible paints an entirely different picture of him.

2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an ANGEL OF LIGHT.
Satan will transform himself into something attractive. He will be persuasive and he will be able to deceive many. It is important to know that we have only one way to stand against him and that is by wearing the whole armor of God.
Look around at the spiritual wickedness in high places. Satan knows his time is short. The shorter his time becomes the more active he will be. Dress up and prepare for battle.

PREPARE FOR BATTLE PART 1

Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

The Apostle Paul was sure that we would be faced with spiritual warfare. As we see the world changing around us we ourselves should not be surprised at the attacks upon Christians and our entire belief system.
It seems that many groups feel that everyone should be tolerant of everything except conservative Christians. Paul has warned us of this yet we still act surprised when it happens.
Satan will attack us in ways that we may not fully recognize that come from him. These will be from special interest groups, educators, the media, government itself and even people surrounding us. It is important for us to dress ourselves for battle. We do that by putting on the whole armor of God.
The next few devotionals will be dealing with this armor. It is time for Christians to dress appropriately for the spiritual warfare to come.
