LESSONS FROM A SHEPHERD 1
There was once a group of shepherds around a small stream of water and as the sheep finished drinking the shepherd would call out to the sheep and they would follow him. The sheep were all mixed together but each would follow his own shepherd's voice. A visitor asked, "Do any of them ever follow the wrong voice."
The answer was very eye opening. He said, "Only the sick ones. The ones who are healthy know their shepherds voice and will only follow him. The sick ones will follow anyone."
Isn't that true in our spiritual lives. Those who are healthy spiritually will only follow the leadership of the Great Shepherd. Those who are spiritually sick will follow any voice that comes along.

THE 23rd PSALM 5
Psalm 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
I SHALL NOT WANT FOR SUSTENANCE
Psalm 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
The Lord is my Shepherd and I shall not want for sustenance because the Lord can and will provide for my every need according to His riches in Glory. Everything belongs to God and it is His to give to whoever He will. I am a firm believer that He reserves the best He has for those that love and trust Him.
I SHALL NOT WANT FOR SPIRITUAL FULLNESS
He anoints my head with oil. He will fill me with His spirit and keep me spiritually sustained. I should allow Him to fill me to the point that my cup runs over. When that happens some of His love will run over and spill on those around us who need it most.

WHAT IS A SAINT?
WHAT IS A SAINT?
A young boy about nine years old went with his parents to
Europe one summer. Part of their tour was visiting the great old
cathedrals of the past. As he would visit cathedral after
cathedral he saw the massive stained glass portraits of the
disciples and of other saints. He was so impressed as he stood
in these great empty halls looking through the beautiful stained
glass windows. Upon return, when asked by his Sunday School
teacher, what about the great churches of Europe did he like the
most, and what was his definition of a saint, he thought for a
moment and he said, "I loved the sense of awesomeness and the
hugeness of who God must be. And what is a saint?" And as his
mind went back to those massive beautiful stained glass windows,
he said, "A saint is a man the light shines through." Jesus
said, "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your
good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
(Matt. 5:16)

NEW FEATURE "THE PASTOR'S POSSE"
This is a new outreach feature that we have started in our church. The characters in the comic are based on the puppets we use in our puppet ministry each week. The kids already know the puppets and we hope they will get to know the comic characters. Feel free to print out and use these in your bulletins or any other way. We will be posting these on weekends when we have new ones.

THE 23rd PSALM 4
Ps 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
I SHALL NOT FEAR EVEN DEATH
Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
I used to fear death because I did not know what lay on the other side for me. Once I trusted Jesus as my Lord and Savior that fear was removed from me.
We all walk through the valley of the shadow of death and for those who are saved that is all it is, a shadow. A shadow can not do you any harm. It might frighten you and it might make you a little apprehensive but it can not really harm you. Jesus took our death into the tomb with Him and He rose up victorious over it. All that is left is the shadow.
Some day you might read my obituary and it might say that I am dead. Don't believe a word of it. I will be more alive than I have ever been.
We are born in the valley. From the time we are born we are headed for death. We grow up in the valley. We live in the valley because we never know when we will die. We must walk in the valley of death daily but we must never walk alone.
The Great Shepherd will walk with us every step of the way and we have nothing to fear. I find that comforting.

I SHALL NOT WANT FOR REVIVAL
Psalms 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Revival is not a series of meetings with an evangelist coming into our church to preach a few exciting and motivating messages. Revival is a restoration of the soul. It is a renewing of that relationship that we had with God when we were first saved.
Remember how new the world looked and how real and close God seemed to us. When we truly experience revival that is restored to us. I was saved at an early age and drifted away from God over a period of years. When I started back to church and started listening to the messages and reading God's Word I really experienced a true life changing revival in my life.
At that point my relationship with God was greater than it had ever been and it changed my life completely. True revival is a life changing experience have sometimes drifted since, but never as far as before and I have had those times of renewal from time to time since then. Let me assure you that this world has nothing to offer you that can compare to the restoring of that special relationship with the Great Shepherd. He will lead us in the paths of righteousness. It is up to us to follow.
