THINGS THAT MAKE US SAD

Matthew 19:21-22 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. (22) But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

Most of us are familiar with the rich young man who wanted to follow Him.  He had lived a good moral life, keeping the commandments, but he was unwilling to give up his material wealth to follow Jesus.

Many people today are living sad and sorrowful lives because they are unwilling to let go of something in the world that they are putting before Jesus.  The most ironic thing about it is that we think those things are what make us happy when in truth they are the very things that keep us from finding the true joy that comes only when we are willing to give it all to Jesus.

I love the words in the song," Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe".  I don't just owe part of what I have to Jesus, I owe it all to Him.  He gave His all for me on Calvary and in return I owe everything to Him.

I have learned one thing that is for sure.  Jesus has asked me to give up many things in my life but He has never failed to replace them with something better.
